Silver Purity Guide

Know Exactly What You Wear

Knowledge is the greatest safeguard when investing in fine metals. Learn what makes 925 sterling silver the international benchmark for jewelry excellence.

The 925 Equation

92.5% Pure Silver + 7.5% Noble Strength

Pure fine silver (99.9%) is as soft as putty — rings would bend under a handshake. Adding 7.5% copper preserves silver’s precious value while imparting structural resilience.

How to Verify Hallmarks on Your Jewelry

In India, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) regulates precious metals. When inspecting your DEYAMI jewelry under a 10x jeweler’s loupe, look for these laser-inscribed authenticators:

1. △

BIS Triangle

Official triangular logo of the Bureau of Indian Standards.

2. 925

Purity Grade

Confirms minimum 925 parts per thousand pure silver.

3. DYM

Maker's Mark

DEYAMI registered artisan and hallmarking center signature.

3 Quick At-Home Verification Tests

Test 1: The Strong Magnet Test

Real silver is diamagnetic — meaning it is not attracted to magnets. Place a strong household neodymium magnet near your jewelry. If it snaps aggressively to the magnet, it contains iron or cheap ferrous base metals and is not genuine sterling silver.

Test 2: The Ice Cube Melt Test

Silver possesses the highest thermal conductivity of any known metal on Earth. Place an ice cube directly onto a flat piece of silver jewelry. The ice will begin melting immediately, almost as if placed on a hot skillet, because silver conducts room-temperature heat instantaneously into the ice.

Test 3: The Skin Test (Hypoallergenic Check)

Base metal imitation jewelry contains nickel which oxidizes into copper salts or nickel allergens, leaving an unsightly greenish or black ring around your finger or neck after sweating. Pure 925 sterling silver is 100% skin safe and never turns skin green.
